Stint coaching, Monster Hunter, Waseda

Wednesday, our distance coaches from the US came to visit us! ^__^ Jonathan and Kristen Whitmore have been in contact with our team leaders and checking up on us regularly. They were able to come visit us and check up on us as a team, so we spent the morning just sharing with each other. =) Then from 12-2:30pm, Nobu, Andrew, and I worked on the student impact websites for the Christmas campaign and discussed on how we wanted the redesign of the page to be. Sometimes it’s a little frustrating how unorganized some things are, but I understand that everything is sort of new in these 1-2 years.

Our coaches Kristen and Jonathan Whitmore! =D

Later that night, the Stint men had our Bible study. And afterwards, we talked about how to bond better as a team, and probably next week we’ll be playing more together. I appreciate the way we’re trying to reach out to each other, especially since Evan and I are in the east team and they are in the west. I then played Monster Hunter with them for the first time and it was pretty fun! O_O That game is definitely made for multiplayer XD

Today we went to Waseda to share the gospel on campus. There were some God moments and really open people that our team met, so I’m encouraged to keep coming and working the soil. ^___^  At 3 we had our east team meeting with Kristen as she encouraged us and helped us talk through some of our worries for the Stint year. ^__^ We brainstormed on how to make the most of our year in Japan, and I learned a lot of things from the coaching I got these 2 days. =)

I have been a little tired recently. I also just don’t feel as joyful as I used to be such as a few weeks ago. I remember how in our training how the usual experience of stint involves a honeymoon period, followed by a period of despair, and then followed by a rebound to normal levels. I’m definitely not in despair, but I can see how I can easily slip into being discouraged at the difficulty we face.

But this week I have been reflecting on God as my creator and as the one who spoke things into existence. Even though there are practically no established clubs on many of the campuses, and we do not have enough manpower to do all that we desire, the God that we serve is the one who created something out of nothing. God is not limited by the resources that we can see on our campuses, but we limit God’s work in our lives when we don’t pray for big requests and think God can only do the small things, if even at all.

There are a lot of things I want to write, but it’s currently really late here and I need to go to campus tomorrow morning. Perhaps I will expound more on my thoughts in the future.

Prayer Requests:

1. For the Lord to restore unto me the joy of my salvation and the joy of my calling

2. For energy and strength to keep running the race set before me with all my strength

  1. Winter may cause us to feel the chill yet His eternal light will forever shine on you and warm your heart again soon. His word will again fire you up immensely for He is faithful to accomplish His plan which He called you and the team. I have no doubt He was the One who put you there in spite of the difficulties. God will accomplish His purpose. Like you said, our Creator created something out of nothing. Pray. Anticipate with patience, faith, and hope. Pray without ceasing.
Few days ago, I share the thought about Paul Washer’s testimony. There were a fellowship who had a burden to pray for him for a long time then God heard the cry of the saints, converted Paul Washer.
Every morning around 6am, I will wake up to pray for you and the team. Somehow I will just wake up and cry to the Lord in behalf of you. God wakes me up. Son, do not be dismayed, you are serving a mighty God who can moves stones. It is good we come to the end, so God can open the sea and let you cross. Cool huh?

  2. Dear Ariel
The LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men…” (Joshua 6:-3)
I will pray for you and then team like Katie and the armed men marching those campuses.

    • thank you so much for praying for me!!! ^__^

  3. I believe prayer is the key to bond. The more we pray for each other, the more we love. Even when you pray for your enemies, you will soon grow to love your enemies. I grow to love the team more each passing day while I kneel before the lord each morning. Strange, how I am feeling.
